Mitch Daniels has been named to Fortune Magazine’s list of 50 greatest world leaders for 2015. The former White House budget director and Indiana governor is included because, the magazine states, he has taken his business sense to academia as the president of Purdue University.
Fortune notes that Daniels, number 41 on the list, has frozen tuition, cut costs and administrative waste and negotiated a deal with Amazon to save the school’s students 30 percent on textbooks.
Fortune assembled a varied list, including leaders without any formal designation alongside elected officials, CEOs, clergy, coaches, athletes, artists and more. They based the choices on leadership within each individual’s professional field.
You can read more about the selection process for the list and see the full list on Fortune’s website.
