Purdue University’s board of trustees has approved plans to freeze tuition for resident, non-resident and international students at the West Lafayette campus for the next two years.
The board also endorsed a proposed operating budget which includes a merit pay increase of 3.5 percent for employees in West Lafayette. In addition, the proposal raises entry-level wages to $10 per hour for all benefits-eligible service and clerical staff.
“We can continue to invest in new faculty and research facilities and all those things that will keep lifting Purdue’s excellence and reputation,” stated Mitch Daniels, Purdue University president, who feels the approvals are critical for the future of the institution.
The measure will now go to the executive committee for final approval May 27.
